Merseyside Police is issuing an appeal for information after a 16-year-old
boy was stabbed in Bootle last night, Monday 9 May.

At 11.40pm, a report was received that the boy had been stabbed around
10.40pm in the area of Kings Park, Bootle by an unknown offender. Police
and the ambulance services attended and the boy was taken to hospital where
he was treated for minor injuries comprising a small wound to his left side
and a scratch to his arm. Forensic enquiries are ongoing this morning at
the scene.

Sefton Detective Chief Inspector Gayle Rooney said: "Thankfully, the boy
received only minor injuries and is being supported by officers. Extensive
enquiries are continuing in the area and my patrols will be on hand to
provide reassurance. Although it is early in the investigation, we are
treating this as a targeted attack and I would like to reassure the
community that incidents like this are unusual, and we will act on any
information you provide to bring those responsible to justice.

"I would urge anyone with information to contact police, or the independent
