Breathe Easy Sefton North held their monthly meeting on Wednesday 7th February at the Dove Centre in Formby.

The meeting was a special event, as the speaker was Mike McKeviit, Head of Patient Services, at the British Lung Foundation in London.

Mike gave a very informative talk about the work of the BLF, listing the various lung diseases for which they fund research. He stated that 1 in 5 people in the UK suffer from some form of lung disease, and that by belonging to a group like Breathe Easy, people stood a better chance of understanding their condition, and use of their medication, thus helping them to stay out of hospital. It also gave them a greater sense of well-being.

Breathe Easy Sefton North presented a cheque for £1500 to Mike towards the BLF research fund. This amount was made up of a kind donation to the group of £1000 from GAP Group Ltd. plant hire, and £500 from the Breath Easy Sefton North group.

Our group meets on the first Wednesday of the month at the Dove Centre, Formby, from 1pm to 3pm. There is always a speaker and we provide a warm welcome, plus refreshments.
