To get us in the mood Gaynor and I got off the train at Moorfield and strolled down to Mathew Street now called “The Cavern Quarter" with music blasting out of many a bar was the sound of the Bealtes.It is no wonder that so many visitors to the city make their way to this music hub as it has such a good vibe and there is plenty to see.

There is still such a great interest in the music from Merseyside that it’s hardly surprising that following last year's amazing success of the musical Two Of Us at Liverpool’s Royal Court that Tom Connor and Mark Newnham reprise their roles of John and Paul and bring to the stage another great show.

Telling the story of the start of the Beatles as the Quarrymen and their Hamburg exploits the story moves quickly from song to song and features all those you would expect .It’s mostly high energy greatest hits performance everything from Love Me Do, A Day In The Life, Help, Sergeant Pepper, Strawberry Fields Forever, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and much more but also features some softer moments with good acoustic versions of the quieter songs.

A great quartet of musicians Adam Keast (bass); Greg Joy (drums); Ben Gladwin (keyboards) and Mike Woodvine(Guitar) along with Tom and Mark playing guitars and piano make this show a must see production for anyone who likes a good night out.

We get a nice surprise at the end of the production with a rendition of the very last Beatles song’ Now and Then followed by a crowd-pleasing sing-along Hey Jude to send their audience home full of music.

You need to be quick if you want to see this one it finishes on 6th April. It’s followed by a return of Alan Bleasdale’s Boy from the Blackstuff starting April 19th.
