Crime in the North West rises 22% as police numbers drop.

New crime figures released today show an increase in recorded crime in the North West that is above the national average. This comes against the backdrop of falling police numbers.

    · Police numbers have dropped by 20% in the North West since 2010.

    · Violent crime has increased 31% in the North West, reaching a high of 46% increase in Greater Manchester.

    · Public order offences in Cheshire have increased by 231%.

Labour will recruit more police to ensure our streets are safe and tackle rising crime.

Diane Abbott MP, Labour’s Shadow Home Secretary, commenting on today’s ONS crime statistics, said:

“The Tories can no longer hide behind claims that crime is falling to justify their severe cuts to the police.

“They have left our communities exposed, with police numbers the lowest on record at a time when forces are under unprecedented pressure from surging crime, an ongoing terror threat, and from covering for cuts to other services.

“Labour will recruit 10,000 new police officers to restore neighbourhood policing and tackle rising crime.”

And, according to brain box Diane Abbott, these extra 10000 Police Officers are only going to cost 30 quid a piece.

OK, so she made a mistake on a public broadcast, she is far from my favourite politician, but it takes a total fool to continue to deny any link between falling police numbers and rising violent particularly street crime.

Not "a" mistake numerous mistakes i'm afraid out of her depth. But yes less cops more chance for scallies to take a chance. Now if you catch them and at least punish them, that might have an affect, you know the Birch or a rope!!

I don't like the woman but HOW can the Police cuts, which have made Christmas come early for the criminal world, be attributed to Abbott.

May was the walking disaster of a Home Secretary who cut the Police to the bone at the behest of Osborne, and now she is working her magic as Prime Minister bringing the country to it's knees in a way only Thatcher was thought possible of doing.

I know the best form of defence is Attack but the Tories and their mindless supporters have taken that to a new level blaming someone who isn't in even in Government.
