Officers in Sefton are continuing to crackdown on antisocial behaviour in the Bootle area by introducing a new temporary dispersal zone.

The zone is in operation from yesterday evening (Wednesday January 4, 2017) until 7pm on Friday January 6, 2017 after which time it will be reviewed and if necessary extended. The area covered by the dispersal zone includes the area within the boundaries of Marsh Lane/Aintree Road, Southport Road, Celia Street/Macbeth Street/Queens Road/ Pembroke Road and Washington Parade.

The zone has been brought in under Section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, which gives police officers and police community support traffic officers powers to direct people they suspect are causing or likely to cause crime, nuisance or anti-social behaviour to leave the area for up to 48 hours. If a person has been directed to leave the area and returns during the period of the dispersal notice, an offence will have been committed.

Any breaches of this can lead to their arrest.

Inspector Darren Wallace said: "The dispersal zone has been brought in as a response to reports of antisocial behaviour and criminal damage in this area over recent weeks, in particularly aimed at buses.

"We are not trying to bother people, young or old, who are going about their legitimate daily business. However, we recognise the impact that criminal damage and antisocial behaviour can have on individuals and communities, and will be targeting people involved in this type of criminality in our area.

"The dispersal zone gives us the powers we need to deal effectively with people and I would urge anyone in the area who has any information to contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Together we can work to eradicate this reckless and criminal behaviour."

They need to do that for central Southport including Kings gardens and the Pier.

All offenders should face a public flogging.

We need officers in Southport - rather than Sefton. That sentence sums up the issue!

There is already one ALLEGEDLY in place, but I still see dozens of teenagers roaming around the areas, which are meant to be patrolled by the police, and the security firm, the areas around the Ocean Plaza/McDonalds especially, see them up to around 3.00am in the mornings in groups of 4-8,weekends being the main times. But do their parents have any idea where their little angels are ? Probably not,as they do not seem to care what they are doing out.
