Merseyside Police Matrix Serious and Organised Crime unit and Sefton officers carried out a day of action in Sefton as a response to serious and organised crime, and a recent rise in firearm discharges in particular in the Sefton area.

The action involves open land searches and drug warrants in the Bootle, Litherland, Seaforth and Crosby areas of Sefton.

Officers from the Matrix are conducting two open land searches, one in Sandy Road, Seaforth, including wasteground and a disused railway line, and the second near to the disused Seaforth Arms pub on Seaforth Road, Bootle.

Chief Inspector Jerry Harris from Sefton said: "This day of action is a continuation of our relentless action against organised crime in Sefton, including drug supply and gun crime.

"We will use any means available to us to reduce the impact of organised crime groups in the area, and will continue to dismantle these groups until they are incapable of operating. As always, information provided by the community is vital in helping make these areas safety."

Anyone with information is urged to call MSOC officers on 0800 230 0600 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
